As America switches from swiping credit cards to inserting them so the chips can be scanned, many are finding themselves frustrated and confused, both consumers and retailers alike.
Although many companies have switched to have the technology to use the chips, they aren’t certified yet so people have to continue swiping, leading to plenty of confusion.
On top of that, it takes longer now for credit card transactions since you insert the card, the chip creates a code, that code is sent to the bank from the retailer, the bank confirms the code, and the bank sends the verification back to the terminal.
Although it’s been with much struggle and getting used to, the chip is definitely better for security. As we get used to this transition, it’s just something we have to deal with.
